BroadSpire's data backup, archival, and recovery services will help you protect your mission critical hosted data. Our data backup services are customizable and augment your disaster recovery plans. Once contracted, BroadSpire's data backup service will back up your files and data on all servers in order to provide:
- the fastest recovery of your servers in the event of a hardware/software failure or physical disaster.
- A measure of protection against human error or the inadvertent deletion of important files.
The data backup service takes regular copies of the files on each server to a recovery storage medium that is retained for certain periods of time (archival period). These backups can be kept at BroadSpire's facility (on site data backup) or a 3rd party facility (off-site data backup), or both for a fully customized data backup and archival plan.
The components of the data backup service that are customizable are:
- The amount of data to be backed up.
- The type of data to be backed up (Web, database, system files, etc.).
- The frequency of backups.
- The archival retention period.
At a minimum each of BroadSpire's data backup services includes:
- Daily incremental backups.
- Once per week full backups.
- Verification of all backups.
Manual monitoring of backups is critical to ensuring that backups have run properly. A unique facet of BroadSpire's service is the level of manual intervention BroadSpire provides. A member of BroadSpire's backup team manually monitors backup processes and creates exception reports for backups that did not run or erred out of the scheduled batches. Exception reports are then routed to Sr. Engineers to manually re-run the missing backups and help ensure data integrity.
Data security is a critical concern for BroadSpire and its customers, including the backup of critical and confidential data. BroadSpire implements a tiered security infrastructure to help protect its customer's data.
1st level of security: The first level of security in BroadSpire's hosting infrastructure is physical security. All data centers require badge access and palm scanner for entry. All servers are housed behind locked, private racks. Only BroadSpire's engineering team has access to the racks.
2nd level of security: Access to the centralized backup media is available only through a managed security proxy that maintains access control and an audit trail. BroadSpire's data backup team members are the only employees with appropriate clearance to gain access to these systems.
3rd level of security: For customers that choose off-site storage of files, BroadSpire contracts an insured third party to store tapes in off-site vaults that help protect against fire, flood, and other natural disasters. The facilities maintain tight security standards and access to tapes is made available only to certain BroadSpire employees that are on a "named" list.
