Enabling Technologies
BroadSpire's operations are designed to provide the most efficient, redundant, and production-ready environment for its customers IT needs. Aside from strict operational efficiency (~ISO standards), BroadSpire has spent a considerable amount of time and money building a technical framework from which to deploy its resilient IT services. We offer a standard 99.99% scheduled network uptime guarantee, with redundant power sources, backup generators, triple-redundant cooling and more.
The most common problem Web sites face as they increase in popularity or use is the lack of an operational infrastructure that:
- allows them to scale, seamlessly to end-users.
- maximizes redundancy to minimize single points of failure.
BroadSpire's services are built atop a foundation that is ready to scale and is highly redundant.
A SOLID OPERATIONS FOUNDATION
This redundancy has been maximized around four key areas that are the most common points of failure for Internet Operations:
- Data Centers
- Network
- Hardware
- People (NOC)
While BroadSpire's competitors may believe that redundancy at this level is overkill, Broadspire considers it good business and the only way a company can ensure maximum end-user satisfaction.
Data Centers
BroadSpire's services are delivered from highly secure data centers. These data centers are connected to the Internet through multiple, diverse fiber entry points and multiple power sources.
Once selected, each facility is outfitted with BroadSpire's infrastructure technology and becomes a "live" Data Center. BroadSpire's Global WrapTM technology is then brought live within that facility and is used to tie together customer infrastructures that have been deployed across the globe, enabling the instant global load balancing, clustering, remote administration, and performance tuning of servers from BroadSpire's redundant NOCs (network operations centers).
Network
BroadSpire provides a network architecture that eliminates virtually all points of failure or Internet congestion. BroadSpire connects each facility to the Internet via a minimum of 6 redundant paths. Furthermore, BroadSpire utilizes the Cisco BGP4 routing protocol to "intelligently" route transit through these multiple paths. All customer transit is provisioned over private lines, not peering arrangements, to ensure maximum performance. BroadSpire's Global WrapTM technology is used to constantly monitor network performance to and from the facility on an ongoing basis, and, if contracted, BroadSpire can dynamically provision its customer traffic through any of BroadSpire's Data Centers should any problems arise.
Hardware
Within each BroadSpire Data Center, BroadSpire provides production-ready, fault tolerant computing environments for its customers' Internet Infrastructures. BroadSpire is capable of scaling the redundancy of your hardware environment from software and hardware RAID to multi-hot-swappable disk drives and power supplies to multi-server load balanced and clustered services. BroadSpire has standardized its environment on top-tier technology vendors and maintains spare hardware parts in inventory for the quickest deployment times.
People - Redundant NOCs
While often overlooked by our competitors, redundancy at the human level is of the utmost importance. BroadSpire maintains 2 geographically separate, time-zone separate Network Operations Centers to ensure that its most critical services are delivered free of human error. BroadSpire's main NOC is located in Los Angeles, California and its redundant NOC is located in Chennai, India. Both facilities are manned 24 hours per day, with constant monitoring of the BroadSpire data centers, network and servers. Each NOC is capable of supporting BroadSpire's global infrastructure and all customers independently. BroadSpire customers receive contact information for both facilities for mission critical support.
INSTALLED TECHNOLOGY
It's important to have the best technology working for you if you want to ensure the most reliable and speedy online presence for your sites. Within each BroadSpire data center, we use only the most reliable, tested equipment.
Cisco 12000 Core Routers:
- Internet backbone level routing
BroadSpire Backbone:
- Cisco 7500 series switches for backbone-level routing
- Each server receives dedicated, full duplex 10 or 100 MB ports
- Speed to router is 100mb/s
Connectivity
Instead of relying on a single Internet connection, as most Web hosts do, each BroadSpire data center maintains private leased connections to at least six Tier I backbone providers. This enables BroadSpire to provide you with the most aggressive uptime guarantees in the Industry. Our data centers have achieved 99.99% scheduled uptime since January of 1999, and we have consistently measured over twice as fast as other hosts.
Each data center is equipped with additional redundancy / diversity from dual building entry points and multi-homed central office provisioning. We monitor backbone performance and automatically send IP traffic down the shortest path using the Cisco BGP4 protocol.
